“Amazing To Surpass My Childhood Hero”: Novak Djokovic Expresses Gratitude After Making History
There has been no player as dominant as Novak Djokovic this season. The manner in which the Serbian ace has gone about things this year, one can only expect more fireworks from him in the future.
As the tennis season is gradually coming to an end, Novak Djokovic yet continues to break the records. After securing his place in the final of the Rolex Paris Masters 2o21, the Serb has ended the year as the World No. 1 player for a record 7th time. He was earlier tied with former great Pete Sampras on six year-end finished as the top-ranked player.
Djokovic was grateful and proud of his recent accomplishment and stated, “Amazing feeling to surpass my childhood hero Pete Sampras for 7th time as a Year-End #1. I am grateful and blessed to be in this unique situation. All my family, team, and all the people that were with me on this wonderful journey are part of this success. Teamwork makes the dream work.”
Novak Djokovic has done what no other man has been able to
Novak thanked his team and all the people who have been part of this memorable journey over the years. He overtook his idol Sampras and was feeling grateful for yet another feat this season. He also made sure to express how surreal the whole experience felt when he thanked his everyone who supported him.
The 34-year-old added, “It’s difficult to comprehend the magnitude of historical achievements while still being an active player, but certainly, there is great gratitude and appreciation to God and all the dear people that have shared their love and support in order for me to be here, thank you!”

At the moment, Djokovic has booked a place in the final of the Rolex Paris Masters 2021. He will be up against a familiar opponent this season, Daniil Medvedev. It promises to be an exciting contest and will be interesting to see who emerges on top of this battle.
