“Brazilian Guards Who Had Guns”- Colby Covington Describes Scary Situation After His Epic Post Match Interview in Brazil
Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington is one of the best fighters in the promotion. Right now, the top-ranked contender in the welterweight division seems to be at the prime of his career. He is beating almost every fighter put in the cage with him.
While his fighting abilities were never in question, he was on the brink of being cut, as there was nothing unique about his character. Hence, he adopted his heel persona and trash-talked the people of Brazil in 2017.
In his post-fight interview after being Demian Maia, ‘Chaos’ said, “Brazil, you’re a dump. All you filthy animals suck.”

In a recent interview with UFC commentator and analyst Daniel Cormier, Colby Covington opened up about this infamous incident; revealing he had to be escorted to safety after UFC Fight Night 119.
Colby explained, “Like the secret service Brazilian guards who had guns and everything. They were like hey, we got to get you out through like this crazy exit in the bottom and we got to take you to the hotel early and you got to wear glasses and cover yourself with a hoodie and a hat. Yeah, they’re like you got to go in disguise. We can’t have you out like that’s why they wouldn’t let me do a post-fight press conference after the fight. Because there was like a bunch of Brazilians surrounded the arena like with guns and like and like knives and forks and everybody. “
Is Colby Covington the most hated UFC fighter?
Despite being one of the most skilled fighters in the octagon, ‘Chaos‘ may be the most despised fighter in the division. There have been many incidents that have resulted in the animosity he now faces.
Covington’s brash persona and ability to mock any opponent on any single point makes him a standout character in the UFC. At the UFC 268 press conference, nothing was off-limits when Covington set out to get into Kamaru Usman’s head. He said things about the champion’s family.
Previously, he had even mocked Dustin Poirier and members of the American Top Team, i.e. his former gym mates.

These are just a few examples of how Covington has incited a great deal of hatred toward himself. Even though he’s one of the most hated, it’s reasonable to suggest that he could be the UFC’s next big thing.
