Daring Daniel Hemric Wanted to One-Up His Risky Backflip Celebration After Xfinity Series Win

How do you celebrate a last move that wins you the race along with the championship? Most drivers will flip out in jubilation and thrill, and Daniel Hemric took it quite literally after winning the Xfinity Series title in a historic result at Phoenix.

After doing some celebratory burnouts on the track, a jubilant Hemric, surrounded by his team, took off his helmet and got on the roof of his car. Then, the race winner did a backflip, which resulted in a loud cheer from his team and from the stands.

In his post-race conference, the Xfinity Series D talked about his viral backflip celebration.

“Someone said they were surprised I did it off the (car) roof. I said, ‘Hell, as long as it took me to win I should have did it off the flag stand.’”

But as unusual as his celebration was, Hemric isn’t the only one who did a backflip after a race win.

Another Joe Gibbs driver, Carl Edwards, was famous for his backflips after his race wins.

Daniel Hemric tastes the ultimate win

The backflip was an out-of-the-ordinary celebration for a driver who has had an out-of-the-ordinary career.

Daniel Hemric had zero (0) wins in his seven-year career. But regardless, the Joe Gibbs driver made it to the Championship 4 and won the whole thing, without ever winning anything before.

The No.18 driver made a last-ditch move on race leader Austin Cindric and prevented him from winning back-to-back titles. The No.18 car finished less than five feet ahead of the No.33 to take the chequered flag.

While Daniel Hemric’s backflip has become the golden cherry resting on top of the ‘cherry on the cake’ headline of his first race and title win, it’d be unwise to say that it was the best of his celebrations.

In fact, if one considers the significance of this moment in his career, it might not be wrong to assume Daniel Hemric won’t remember much of the celebration except the backflip.
