Josh Taylor Berates Teofimo Lopez For ‘Parading His Mickey Mouse Belts’ Alongside Canelo Alvarez

Josh Taylor has had enough of Teofimo Lopez. Following his victory over Caleb Plant, Teofimo Lopez joined Canelo Alvarez on stage to showcase his belts, displaying their unity as Mexican fighters. However, the current undisputed light welterweight champion Josh Taylor was having none of it.

He took to his Twitter to express his distaste of watching Lopez parade his belts around Canelo Alvarez. “That little rat Teofimo Lopez parading in on Canelo’s with his Mickey Mouse WBC. What a f**king brass neck. Embarrassing! The guys so desperate it’s unreal. There’s only two undisputed champs with All the belts. FACT!” Taylor said on Twitter.

Teofimo ‘The Takeover’ Lopez became the unified lightweight world champion after defeating Vasiliy Lomachenko back in 2020. Ever since then, Lopez has avoided Lomachenko, citing different reasons. Josh Taylor believes Lopez fears fighting Lomachenko again. The reason many fans and boxers feel the same is because Lomachenko was not himself.

Vasiliy Lomachenko ruthlessly stopped Masayoshi Nakatani in the ninth round to issue a resounding demand for a rematch with Teofimo Lopez.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist suffered a shoulder injury before the fight and did not want to pull out. His manager, Egis Klimas spoke to ESPN about the injury and how it affected the fight. “We lost one week of training. We lost one week of sparring because the doctor forbid him to do much for a week after the injection,” Klimas said.

Josh Taylor: Teofimo Is Scared Of Lomachenko Rematch

Josh Taylor thinks Teofimo Lopez is struggling to make the 135-pound weight limit and will look to move up in weight classes. He also spoke about why he thinks Lopez fears a rematch against Lomachenko and his upcoming bout against Australian contender George Kambosos Jr.

“I think he’s scared of the rematch with Loma as well because he knows he fought an injured Lomachenko. So, I think Lomachenko firing on all cylinders beats him. It’s a good fight,” Taylor said. Lopez will take on Kambosos Jr. on November 27th at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

Do you think Vasiliy Lomachenko deserves a rematch against Lopez?
