Marko Believes This Quality of Verstappen is ‘Unprecedented’: Lewis Hamilton May Disagree

In the battle between the future of the sport and the man who is making history, Max Verstappen has caught up. However, has he taken over Hamilton’s signature technique? Red Bull boss, Helmut Marko seems to think so.

What had immensely contributed to Verstappen’s win in Mexico was his confidence heading into turn one. He got the racing line, stayed within the white line, and braked late into the turn; thus securing the race lead. It was the perfect start to the perfect race for Max Verstappen.

In praise of his star driver, Helmut Marko said, “Max’s late braking is unprecedented.” A strong adjective used by Marko, the technique, although common, is often associated with Lewis Hamilton.

Known to be a driver who brakes the latest, Hamilton has seven championships in the bag to back his technique. It has been something that has demarcated him as a driver throughout his career. Although, maybe it’s just the sign of a skilled driver- something Hamilton and the Dutchman both share.

Max Verstappen is the focus for Red Bull

After the race in Mexico, Helmut Marko was a happy man. Three of his drivers finished in the top 4, but Verstappen had extended his lead. Although the burden on his shoulders is lighter now, there’s still time before he rests.

“I feel relaxed. We have increased the advantage in the championship standings, but now we have to win in Brazil again next Sunday. At that point, I’ll be even more relaxed.” Not only Verstappen, but Red Bull also has closed in on their rivals. Now, the Milton Keynes team is a mere point behind their rivals.

Red Bull’s boost in the constructor’s championship can be credited to Sergio Perez‘s awakened form. With the team scoring double podiums in the last three races, Mercedes is sure to have broken a sweat.

However, for Marko, the focus is on the driver’s championship. “The difference is only one point in the constructors ‘standings, but Max’s fight for the drivers’ title is much more important.”

As the team and their dynamic duo head to yet another powerhouse in Brazil, they anticipate another double podium there as well. With only four races to go, Max may have the title in his hand, but can he hold on to his lead till Abu Dhabi?
