Novak Djokovic in Yet Another Class Act After Defeating Daniil Medvedev at Paris Masters 2021

World No.1 Novak Djokovic once again proved why he is considered one of the greatest-of-all-time tennis players. He defeated World No.2, Daniil Medvedev, in the Rolex Paris Masters 2021 final, lifting the trophy for a record-extending seventh time. The final scoreline was 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

After the match, the 34-year-old Serbian praised Medvedev for his individualism. Djokovic also claimed that the 25-year-old Russian is a “great rival to have.” But before this, Djokovic expressed his emotions about winning the title and sharing the moment with his family.

“What a day, what a week. Blessing after blessing,” Djokovic tweeted. “My loves both my children witnessing this moment. Crown for years of hard work. My amazing team. Fantastic matches. Many memories to take away. Grateful to bring home another tree in the woods to where this wolf sleeps.”

Novak Djokovic on Daniil Medvedev as a new rival

In the 2021 season, Djokovic and Medvedev played three finals, namely Australian Open, US Open, and the Paris Masters. Hence, it is indeed the new forming rivalry on the ATP Tour.

However, along with his game, Djokovic also lauded Medvedev’s character. “What I love and respect about Daniil Medvedev is his commitment to being true to who he is at all times. Being authentic and original,” Djokovic said.

“Doesn’t matter what others think, say or expect, he keeps his heart and mind checked and measures his deeds based on his values.”

Furthermore, the 20-time Grand Slam champion claimed that people who embrace their nature and identity and work hard to get better every day are in for greatness. That is why Djokovic is looking forward to seeing more from his opponent.

“I know I won’t have it easy with you around, and you are a great rival to have,” Djokovic concluded.

What’s next for Djokovic after the victory in Paris?

After Paris, Djokovic will fly to Turin to compete in the ATP Finals. Therefore, he will again campaign to steal a title from Medvedev.
