Strictly’s Adam Peaty admits ‘I’m not OK’ after show exit as he ‘heals’ from being an elite athlete

STRICTLY Come Dancing’s Adam Peaty has said he’s “not OK” following his emotional exit from the show.

The Olympian, 26, became the sixth celebrity to be voted off the BBC ballroom show after he landed in the dance-off alongside Tilly Ramsay and her partner Nikita Kuzmin.

Breaking his silence on his exit, Adam took to Instagram to share a lengthy post and explain his emotional display as he heals “from the trials and tribulations that elite sporting athletes go through”.

Sharing a slew of photos from his Strictly experience, he began: “What an experience @bbcstrictly has been.

“I’m so grateful for my time on this show, from the highs of performing in front of millions and the extreme challenge of learning a new routine within 3 days every week, it’s been incredible.

“I didn’t know how much it meant to me until I got a bit emotional after my dance off; however, I don’t think it was the dancing that pushed me over the edge, but the two years of the constant challenge with myself combined with the energy to win the Olympics and becoming a father at the same time.

“My emotions are one of my strongest attributes and I’m not ashamed to show that I’m human.”

He continued: “It’s crazy to me because I thought I was ‘ok’ but I am not. We all have to wear a piece of armour to get the job done and it wasn’t until this week that I knew I could let it go.

“I’m still healing from the trials and tribulations that elite sporting athletes go through but with that I’m also adapting and learning from life.”

Speaking of his dance partner, Adam added: “Thank you Katya for being there every single day, you are incredible. I don’t have enough positive words for you and what an amazing person and dancer you are.

“Thank you to everyone behind the scenes, you are brilliant. I’m so grateful for everyone who has made this experience so amazing.

“@tillyramsay you were incredible and I’m so glad you get to show how much of an amazing dancer you are again next week!” he continued.

“For the people who tried to bring us down throughout the show, please challenge yourself to be better. The world needs much more positivity and truth.

“Time to get some rest (although my book launches this week!!!) I’ll come back the strongest version of the real me and I can’t wait to start racing again!

“A very special mention to all of the band, wardrobe, hair, makeup, set builders, camera crew and every who makes this show what it is, you are just brilliant ”.

After sharing his candid post, Adam was inundated with messages of support from his fellow Strictly contestants and pros as well as host Tess Daly.

His pro partner Katya commented: “You are an inspiration. I will be forever grateful for this chapter. Thank you for being authentic self, making so many people happy, but it’s time to look after yourself ”.

Last night, the Olympic swimmer found himself in the deep end after finishing bottom of the leaderboard, and this time he was unable to pull himself to safety.

He said: “I have absolutely loved every single challenge. I’ve never had a challenge like this. As an Olympian for 16 years, I’ve pushed my body to places I never thought they’d be pushed. I’ve so much respect for dancers across the world.

“It’s just a great, great experience.”

A teary Katya, 32, said: “I was not ready to be in this position today. What was really nice after the dance floor is I looked at him and he had tears in his eyes.”

Judge Craig Revel Horwood said he wouldn’t have put either act in the bottom two and saved Tilly, while Motsi Mabuse agreed Tilly was more in tune with the music.

Anton Du Beke called it a “great dance-off” and saved Tilly too, but Shirley Ballas said she would have chosen Adam had her vote been needed.

Despite the pair’s low score for their jive to Little Bitty Pretty One by Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, viewers believed they had much more to give.

One wrote on Twitter: “#Strictly on nooo, love watching Adam..what a shame..those two should not have been in the dance off. Fully amazing too.”

Another said: “@adam_peaty such a shame your not going to be in strictly anymore! #gutted you did so well!”

A third wrote: “The wrong couples were in the dance off, sorry just my opinion… So sad to see Adam leave.”
