Amy Winehouse’s mum Janis Winehouse-Collins has revealed she’s been left with a broken wrist after a mishap in the night.

Sharing a photo to Twitter on Monday, the late singer’s mother was seen with her arm wrapped up tight in a sling as she rested it on a pillow following a nasty accident.

Janis, who has Multiple Sclerosis, explained: ‘So last night I got up to go to the bathroom, sorry to say I lost my balance and broke my wrist!’

She went on: ‘I have got to have an operation this week so if you don’t see me on here please don’t worry, hubby will keep you updated, love Janis xxx.’

True to the promise, Janis’s husband Richard returned on Tuesday to share an update with her 11,000 followers, many of whom shared their wishes for her speedy recovery.

A message read: ‘Hi to all of Janis’s followers , thank you all for your kind messages I have read them out to Janis and she is so grateful , at the moment we are waiting to be called to have an op and I will keep you updated, thank you Richard.’

July marked 10 years since the death of Winehouse, who died on July 23, 2011, at the age of 27 from alcohol poisoning.

Following the star’s death, Janis helped launch the Amy Winehouse Foundation alongside Winehouse’s father Mitch, in order to help support other young people struggling with addiction.

She also recently narrated the documentary Reclaiming Amy.

Speaking amid the anniversary, and the one-off BBC documentary aiming to uncover ‘the real Amy’, Janis revealed on Lorraine she still felt Winehouse’s presence: ‘Oh yes, more than. She’s here, always, always. She’s with me, I’ve got that sense.’

Janis also spoke of the last words they said to one another, the day before Winehouse died: ‘I remember exactly. I said to her “Amy, I love you” and she said, “I love you too, Mummy.”

‘But that’s how we were and I could express my love to her, always. She was very protective of me.’
