Glastonbury 2022 – which will be the event’s first in three years – is setting up nicely, after the legendary Diana Ross was announced for the line-up.

Diana, 77, will perform on the Sunday of Glastonbury 2022, which takes place in June.

Emily, who organises the festival with her dad Michael, revealed the latest act to join the line-up to fans on social media.

She said: ‘I’m thrilled to be able to let you know that the magnificent @DianaRoss is coming to play at @glastonbury next summer.

‘We were so excited to book such a legend for Glastonbury 2020 and are so happy that she’s the first to re-confirm for next year.’

Diana shared: ‘I’m so excited and grateful to finally know, that I’ll be seeing you at Glastonbury while on my UK Thank U Tour celebrating my new album of songs, Sunday, June 26, 2022.’

The singer is the latest name to be confirmed to headline, after Billie Eilish was the first to be announced back in October.

Billie, 19, will become the youngest solo headliner in the festival’s history when she performs next year, aged 20.

The Bad Guy singer sent fans into a frenzy after sharing a selfie of her wearing a black hoodie with the words: ‘Glastonbury Festival, Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset,’ before adding the year ‘2022’ over the photo.

Emily later confirmed the news and tweeted: ‘We couldn’t be happier to announce that the wondrous @billieeilish is headlining the Pyramid on the Friday at next year’s Glastonbury Festival, becoming the youngest solo headliner in our history.

‘This feels like a perfect way for us to return and I can’t wait!’

The American singer will grace the Pyramid Stage on Friday June 24, 2022 before Diana takes to the same spot two days later.

This year, the festival hosted a five-hour livestream event featuring acts including Coldplay, Damon Albarn, Haim, Idles, Jorja Smith, Kano, Michael Kiwanuka, Wolf Alice and DJ Honey Dijon.

Last year, the festival was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary – but it was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2020 line-up had been due to feature names like US star Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and Sir Paul McCartney, with Ross due to play the legends slot when she takes to the stage on the Sunday.
