Anthony Davis Facing Another Health Issue After Stomach Illness and Thumb Injury

The Los Angeles Lakers and Charlotte Hornets are going to face off, each with the intention of ending their losing streaks. On one hand, the Hornets are on a four-game losing streak, while the Lakers have also lost their last two games. Unfortunately for the Lakers, the injury saga continues as Anthony Davis has more issues than the stomach illness that he left because of against the Portland Trail Blazers.

This is a battle between one of the youngest teams in the league against the oldest. Both of them are not holding the best records to start the season off with, as the Lakers are at 5-5 and the Hornets are at 5-6. Even though the Charlotte Hornets started the season much better, they went on a downward spiral after, much like the Lakers, who have had a roller coaster win-lose season this far.

Now that the two teams face each other, there are some updates about two of the Lakers’ players. As per Harrison Faigen, Anthony Davis is probable for the matchup against the Hornets. Despite his stomach feeling better, his thumb is still sore, and is even suffering from a cold. However, Faigen also clarified that, because of the cold, AD has already been tested for COVID and the result came negative.

Before anyone asks, AD does have a cold. He has been tested and was negative.

No timetable update on LeBron.

The next update, sadly, has nothing to do with LeBron James is return, whose timeline for return is yet to be revealed. However, Talen Horton-Tucker, whose torn ligament in his thumb kept him from making his debut this season, has been cleared for contact now. Although the Lakers won’t rush his return, it’s still huge progress.

Can the Lakers finally see the face of victory against Hornets?

The Hornets have a high-flying offense, with Miles Bridges and former Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball leading the way. And this is the only way they can defeat the Los Angeles Lakers because their defense is one of the worst in the league. And that’s what their opponents could take advantage of.

If Anthony Davis does not play, Russell Westbrook will be the key player that the roster will rely on. Given, he has been facing a lot of backlash because of his inability to step up as expected during the injury plague that the Lakers are going through, but he was a triple-double NBA player and just needs to channel that back into his game.

They do have Carmelo Anthony to depend on from the bench, but others like Malik Monk, Austin Reeves, and Kent Bazemore also have to take shots if they want this victory. The purple and gold fans will hope that Davis ends up playing, but if he doesn’t, the fate of the Lakers lies in the hands of the rest. Will they be able to take care of it?
