Colby Covington Destroys AEW and Jorge Masvidal, Hints Potential WWE Move

Colby Covington’s outing against Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman did not go the way he intended. The two headlined the UFC 268 event, with Colby Covington losing the fight via unanimous decision. In the post-fight presser, he spoke about a wide range of things, including his nemesis, Jorge Masvidal, AEW, and WWE.

‘Chaos’ was quizzed about his former MMA training partners from American Top Team and how he felt about them appearing in AEW. Covington also shared his thoughts about promotion. As always, Colby spoke his mind about the two promotions, as he dubbed AEW as second-rated. However, he clarified that he would love to enter the squared circle with the top-rated promotion, i.e. WWE.

He said,” I don’t pay attention to anything those losers do, so? You know, I am focused on putting on the biggest and best fights in the world. You might see me in WWE one day, but I don’t think you are going to see me in second-tier promotion like AEW.”

Colby is still eyeing a WWE debut following Ronda Rousey’s successful transition

Rowdy Ronda Rousey was the first UFC fighter of the modern era to jump ship to professional wrestling. However, she won’t be the last one to make the move, as former title challenger Colby Covington has showcased his interest as well. He may have burned the bridge leading to AEW, but Vince and his team would definitely love to rope in the UFC star.

The brash superstar is famous for speaking his mind and back in 2018, he suggested that Brock Lesnar might be scared of fellow ATT member Bobby Lashley. However, in 2021, things have drastically changed between ATT and Colby, which could change the dynamic between them if he ever shows up in WWE.

Colby’s feud with ATT and Jorge Masvidal is a well-known story in the MMA world. He publicly criticized the gym and left on bad terms, and he made an enemy in Jorge Masvidal. The duo has called each other multiple times, but sadly, things never fell into place. Jorge has a fight coming up, and Colby just suffered another loss.

Therefore, while a fight between Masvidal and Covington is unlikely to happen soon, one can expect it to happen sometime in the future. And who knows, maybe the two MMA stars collide inside a wrestling ring. Let us know what you think of Covington’s comments.
