I’ve gone off sex since my girlfriend found a lump on her vagina

DEAR DEIDRE: I DON’T want to go anywhere near my girlfriend after she discovered a small lump on her vagina.

It looks like a genital wart, which makes me feel dirty and disgusted. I don’t want to have sex with her again until it’s sorted.

My girlfriend made this discovery a month ago but she is too afraid to go to the doctor

My girlfriend made this discovery a month ago but she is too afraid to go to the doctor, fearing the worst.

I don’t want to lose her but I am at a loss as to where we go from here.

DEIDRE SAYS: We all get lumps and bumps from time to time and they are usually completely harmless, so please do not jump to conclusions.

Changes such as this should always be checked promptly by a doctor.

Do encourage your girlfriend to make an appointment as soon as she can because in very rare cases, new lumps can mean something more serious.

There is no need for her to be embarrassed. Tell her that everything is much easier to sort if you catch it early on.
