Kyle Larson Expresses Desire to Compete in Formula 1 As He Prepares to Attend 2021 Abu Dhabi GP
NASCAR and Formula 1 are two of the most popular forms of motorsports in the world. Many drivers have crossed the Atlantic ocean to swap their race cars. And the latest name in that list could be this year’s NASCAR Cup Series champion, Kyle Larson.
Larson admittedly is an athlete who looks for challenges to better himself. And there’s arguably no bigger challenge for a racing driver than to compete in Formula 1.
The Hendrick driver recently spoke of his desire to “test” and compete in F1 someday in the future.
“I don’t follow F1 that much, but it’d be cool to test one, to see what that’s like,” Larson said in a podcast of The Athletic.
“I’d love to experience the speed and grip and all that, who knows, sometime down the road compete in an event.”

Larson explained how he followed the F1 race in Austin and also expressed his plans to visit Abu Dhabi during the Grand Prix weekend in December.
If he fulfills his desire of racing in F1, Larson will join a list that includes names like Mario Andretti, Jacques Villeneuve, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kimi Raikkonen among others.

The talent of Kyle Larson isn’t only limited to NASCAR
Even though racing in Formula 1 is a thing of the future for Larson, he still possesses a variety of experience in different types of racing.
The 29-year-old driver has competed in dirt racing where he achieved a lot of success. Larson is a regular in dirt car fixtures and has wins in prestigious events, including the Chili Bowl Nationals, Knoxville Nationals and Kings Royal.
Larson also has tasted success in endurance racing. He won the 24 Hours Of Daytona in 2015.
It’s been the year of Kyle Larson in every way.
10 Cup Series race wins. All-Star Race. Chili Bowl. Knoxville Nationals. Kings Royal.
And to cap it all, he’s now the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion.

Hence, there’s no reason to factually doubt Kyle Larson’s racing talent beyond NASCAR.
In fact. Kyle Larson’s name as the best racing driver in America is building steam. Former professionals, current drivers, and experts are all lauding and applauding him after a season in which he bullied drivers and records alike.
So, it’s not a stretch to assume he could very well be successful in Formula 1.
Mario Andretti’s victory at the 1978 Dutch Grand Prix remains the ‘latest’ win by an American driver in F1.
With Formula 1 finally fixing its flag in a NASCAR loving America this year, there’s no better driver to carry and fix NASCAR’s flag into Formula 1 other than Kyle Larson.
