Nicola Adams OBE made history as part of the first same-sex couple on Strictly Come Dancing last year, however after testing positive for coronavirus she had to leave the show, and now she’s ready to make a comeback.
The former Olympic boxer, 39, was forced to leave the competition early after her partner Katya Jones contracted the virus.
Although the star had the opportunity to reunite with Katya for the last dance at last year’s final, Nicola revealed to Metro.co.uk that she would love to come back as a contestant.
The boxing star said: ‘It would be really cool to come back to Strictly because I feel like we’ve got unfinished business.’
Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite and Johannes Radebe have made history as this year’s first-ever all-male partnership, and the boxer has shared her support for the dancing duo.
She later added: ‘I have been watching a little of this year’s series.

‘I think Johannes is doing amazing. I’m glad that they’ve continued the same-sex representation as it should be, it’s not a token.
‘It’s everyday life and should be represented, and I’m looking forward to seeing him and John doing some lifts.’
Since she retired the boxing gloves back in 2019, Nicola has been involved in a number of projects, and her latest one is her upcoming documentary titled Lioness: The Nicola Adams Story.
The feature film will give viewers an insight into the star’s rise to becoming the first female boxer to represent England, and overcoming prejudicial stereotypes.

Lioness will also explore her difficult upbringing, as well as dealing with intense racism and homophobia. With all the hardship she’s endured, Nicola expressed how grateful she was to be part of history.
‘Women have had to fight to do everything they want to do today, not even in sport, in careers.

‘They’ve had to fight for everything they’ve done, it’s nice to think I’ve been part of that journey and being able to make difference so that other women don’t have to struggle, the way we did.’
Lioness: The Nicola Adams Story launches on November 12 on Amazon Prime Video.
