Tyson Fury’s wife Paris Fury has opened up about fearing that their baby Athena was dying in hospital after she was born, recalling how she ‘stopped breathing’.
In August this year, Tyson and Paris welcomed their sixth child, with the boxer asking on social media that fans ‘pray’ for their daughter.
Athena was taken to intensive care shortly after her birth, with Tyson’s father John praising the medical team and saying that they ‘saved her life because she was dead for three minutes’.
On Tuesday’s edition of Loose Women, Paris spoke to the panel via video chat, sharing details of the terrifying ordeal she and her family endured when they realised that something was wrong.
Paris explained that she was holding Athena in her arms as they made their way to the high dependency unit when ‘she just stopped breathing’.
‘She stopped breathing, she became non-responsive. I screamed for the nurses because she wasn’t connected to none of the machines any more.’

Paris said that the nurses came ‘running’ in, ‘ripping’ Athena from her arms as they placed her on a bed and called a buzzer for more doctors, who ‘came flooding in’.
At this point, they began the process of resuscitating the newborn.

Tyson was on a run around the hospital grounds at the time, Paris said, as he was training for his fight against Deontay Wilder III.
Furthermore, the couple were under the impression at that point that ‘it looked like everything was going ok with Athena’, which is why he went for a jog.
‘He came running in, I just broke down and screamed. I said, “She’s dying! She’s dying!”, and it looked that way,’ Paris told the Loose Women panel.
Thankfully, following the medical intervention, Athena has since recovered.
‘They ventilated her again and obviously she had to get better, she just had to get better on her own, which when they took her off the machine and everything’s come round, she has,’ Paris said.
‘Her heart rate is normal again now, her health is all back to normal, everything’s perfect. But it was such a scary two weeks and you don’t expect it with your sixth child.’

Paris and Tyson met when they were teenagers, marrying a couple of years later.
In addition to Athena, they have five other children: three sons named Prince and daughters Venezuela and Valencia.
