Why Will LaMelo Ball Never Join the Los Angeles Lakers?

The Charlotte Hornets have come up as an underdog team in the NBA. Notably, led by young star, LaMelo Ball, they keep rising. Ball has made a name for himself for his playmaking skills. Moreover, he is now showcasing his offensive capabilities as well. However, the Hornets are not a championship squad and he may have to take a decision in the coming years. But the one team he won’t join would be the Los Angeles Lakers.

LaMelo sure has shown a lot of improvement this season. He is turning himself into one of the best point guards to in the current NBA. But, winning is every player’s dream, and the same applies to Ball. With the Lakers having a history of winning, he would be a good fit. However, it is highly unlikely LaMelo joins.

Despite having a great chance at winning, here is why LaMelo Ball will never join the Lakers.

Why LaMelo will never join the Lakers

One of the main reasons LaMelo will never be in the purple and is their history with his brother, Lonzo. Lonzo Ball came in as a high ranked prospect. Likewise, the Lakers picked him up as the second overall pick in the draft. But things didn’t turn out great for him as he couldn’t perform upto the expectations. After a couple of years, Lonzo was sent off to Ne Orleans in a trade for Anthony Davis.

Following the trade, father LaVar Ball was not happy either. He even said they will never win another championship. Moreover, he has also expressed his desire for all his sons to be on one team at some point. Hence, that could come up as one of the reasons. But, LaVar and Lonzo have had a shaky relationship. So Lonzo could advise LaMelo to do what he feels like he did for his deal with Puma as well.

However, the trade for Lonzo did draw a controversy. Despite playing only parts of seasons due to injuries, he averaged 10 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal per game. Looking at the way he was treated by the organisation, LaMelo may keep the Lakers off his list.

At the end of the day, it will all come down to a decision by LaMelo Ball. He is a great talent who is making a name for himself with the Hornets. Despite issues with the Lakers, Lonzo has supported his brother and told him to be free of any intrusion in his basketball life.
