BREAKING: NBA Takes Action Against Nikola Jokic After Violent Actions in Miami Heat Game

Nikola Jokic is a quiet player on the floor for the most part. However, he holds his pride at a high. Hence, when Markieff Morris fouled him in their matchup against the Miami Heat, all hell broke loose. Jokic pushed Markieff from behind and was ejected for this reason. Now the NBA is on his tail and are taking action.

Jokic is never in the limelight for controversy. The big man puts it out on the floor and is often seen on the comedic side of things. However, since the Nuggets playoff loss to the Suns last year, it seems something has ticked him off. This came as proof with his incident with Morris.

Nikola Jokic to receive one game suspension

After the whole incident, Jokic was ejected from the game and it all seemed to be over. However, the gravity of the event was not small. With Jokic being such a recognized player, his actions represent the league. Hence, him along with a few other stars faced punishments for their actions during the altercation.

Nikola Jokic has received a one game suspension without pay as a result of his actions. Being the main culprit, he is the only player to receive a suspension. Other players who will take a financial hit are Jimmy Butler and Markieff Morris. Morris is fined for $50.000 for initiating the whole incident. While Butler didn’t play any hand in the whole altercation, he did lose his cool towards the end. For those reasons, he is fined $30.000 by the NBA.

The NBA announces its sanctions:

This is a good move by the league as it hit their reputation big time. These days, even verbal disputes get players in trouble. However, in an altercation as such, these punishments may be considered lenient. The last time something like this took place was in the game between Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Three players, Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo and Brandon Ingram received suspensions for getting into an altercation in the middle of the game. The league has done a good job in giving out appropriate sanctions and preventing further such events. Do you think Jokic should receive bigger punishment? Let us know in the comments below.
