Excitement is ramping up for House of Gucci, following the drama’s premiere in London last night.

Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto and Salma Hayek attended the premiere in Leicester Square on Tuesday night, with Gaga of course wowing in purple Gucci for the event.

Ever since the fabulously camp trailer (‘Father, son and house of Gucci’) dropped back in July, fans have been eagerly awaiting the Ridley Scott film, which is based on the 2001 book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden.

What is House of Gucci about?

House of Gucci is based on the true story of the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci, the head of the fashion house Gucci.

His ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani, who he had been married to from 1972 until 1994, was arrested and accused of hiring the hitman who killed Gucci through an intermediary.

Prosecutors claimed that Reggiani was motivated by jealousy and resentment, as her ex’s impending marriage to Paola Franchi would cause her annual alimony to be cut from $1.47million (£1m) to $860,000 (£636,000), which she said amounted to ‘a bowl of lentils’.

In 1997, Reggiani was sentenced to 29 years in prison for arranging Gucci’s murder, and was released in October 2016 after serving 18 years.

House of Gucci will follow the marriage of Gucci (Driver) and Reggiani (Gaga) and Gucci’s murder at the age of 46.
