“I Gave Plant Two Rounds, Three Rounds”- Eddie Hearn Reflects on Canelo Alvarez’s Undisputed Super-Middleweight Title Win

Despite being Canelo Alvarez’s promoter, Eddie Hearn wasn’t seen in person at the Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant fight. While the Alvarez-Hearn pair can work once again in the future, the Matchroom Kingpin reflected his opinion on the P4P king’s latest performance. He also praised ‘Sweethands’.

Though Hearn praised Caleb Plant and acknowledged his capabilities, he ridiculed the former IBF champion for lacking enough will in the clash.

Eddie Hearn connected with iFL TV after the fight and said, “I just don’t feel that he [Plant] really truly believed he could win the fight. And when you go back to the verbal exchanges that you saw. I think it was in the night I thought it was, I didn’t feel that Plant was in there with lots of conviction to win. I know it’s his style. But it’s just that you have got to really be able to punch against Canelo Alvarez.”

“I gave Plant two rounds, three rounds, maybe. And he boxed nicely. Listen, he is a great mover, he is a good fighter. But from the naked eye, from where I was, he was never in the fight. He was never winning the fight.”

Despite that, Canelo Alvarez himself hailed his rival, Caleb Plant, for putting on a good fight. Plant was chasing Alvarez close on the scorecard till the fight lasted. Nevertheless, Alvarez shot haymakers in round 11 to win via TKO.
