Scottie Pippen on Why Steph Curry’s Warriors Remind Him of His Legendary 1990–91 Chicago Bulls

The Golden State Warriors are one of the most prominent franchises in the NBA. Many NBA legends have worn the team’s iconic yellow and royal blue colors over the years. Fans popularly refer to the six-time NBA championship-winning team as the ‘Dubs’. Their current team boasts an impressive roster, including the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and others.

The Warriors have enjoyed an excellent start to the new 2021-22 NBA season. A strong start to the season has earned them high praise from Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen. He was speaking to ‘SiriusXM NBA Radio’ when he lauded the Warriors for their exceptional form this season. The former superstar compared them to the legendary 1990s Bulls team that won two 3-peats.

Pippen said, “It reminds me of our first run. And taking a couple of years’ break and then kicking it back up. They got good players, they know how to win. Again, the chemistry is there. Everything is in place. They haven’t changed a lot. So I think that they can move forward.”

“It reminds me of our first run.”

The Warriors’ current crop of star players led by Curry, Thompson, and Green guided the franchise to a 2015 NBA championship victory. A stronger team with the addition of Kevin Durant to an already imposing trio ensured two more titles in 2017 and 2018. The Warriors are the Western Conference’s title contender favorites, considering they have only yet lost to the Memphis Grizzlies this season.

Trae Young recorded 28 points but could not stop the Hawks from falling to a 113-127 loss against the Warriors. Chase Center will host the Warriors home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves next.
