Tyson Fury’s Father Spills the Beans on His Son’s Injury Prior to the Deontay Wilder Trilogy

Last month, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury engaged in one of the finest heavyweight wars. The hard-hitters locked horns in a trilogy bout for the WBC heavyweight title. This was by far one of the most astonishing heavyweight title fights of recent times. It featured knockdowns, power punches, and entertainment.

Fury won the fight fair and square by demolishing Wilder in every way he could. But do you know, ‘The Gypsy King’ suffered some serious injuries ahead of the fight?

Recently, John Fury, who was in a chat with BT Sport Boxing, shed some light on his son’s injuries ahead of the Wilder trilogy.

John Fury stated that his son was ‘very badly injured’ ahead of this fight. Moreover, Fury got injected in both elbows to numb them before the bout. Also, since that treatment, ‘The Gypsy King’ has undergone a six-hour operation to remove bone spurs. (h/t Michael Benson)

Fury began this fight slowly, but he was quick enough to counterattack Wilder with some slick jabs. The Briton didn’t want ‘The Bronze Bomber’ to dictate the pace of the fight. As a result, he kept coming back with some fiery strikes.

As the contest moved ahead, the tussle between the two only got better. Fury scored the first knockdown, but Wilder dropped him twice in round 4.

However, ‘The Gypsy King’ made adjustments to smother Wilder in the later rounds. Eventually, Fury earned the finish in the penultimate round.

Tyson Fury – A true heavyweight great

Despite his injuries, the Lancashire native didn’t make this fight look easy. In fact, he remained pro-active right from his ring walk, and he truly had a purpose that night.

Fury’s ability to come back from adversities separates him from the rest. That said, there’s no doubt in admitting why he’s a modern-day heavyweight great.

The hardcore enthusiasts of boxing wish to see more of Fury’s actions inside the ring. And it’ll be intriguing to see if he returns soon or calls time on his unblemished career.
