Wendy Williams has taken to social media to share a health update with her fans, assuring them that she’s ‘doing everything she can to get back to work’.

While the presenter didn’t give a date for her return to The Wendy Williams Show, she assured viewers that she was focusing on her recovery after contracting a ‘breakthrough case of Covid-19’ in September.

The 57-year-old has been unable to take on her daytime hosting duties ever since then, while she’s also suffered medical complications of a thyroid condition in that time.

Writing in a statement on Instagram, she said: ‘HOW YOU DOIN’? I MISS YOU ALL! As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic. I’m making progress but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected.’

She added: ‘I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready. I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there.’

Wendy’s health has been a cause for concern among fans, ever since earlier this year she shared an update on her condition with her Instagram followers.

In a photo, Wendy is seen sitting on a table with her swollen feet and ankles close to the camera to highlight the severity of her chronic condition, lymphoedema.

Lymphoedema is a long term chronic condition that causes swelling in the body’s tissues. It can affect any part of the body but typically occurs in the arms and legs.

It was then reported in September that the presenter was taken to the hospital this week for a mental health check.

Her staff were said to be ‘freaking out’ as The Wendy Williams Show premiere was further delayed after she was reportedly hospitalised for psychiatric issues, with an ambulance spotted outside Wendy’s apartment in New York City.

In her absence, Season 13 of the show premiered with a panel of guest hosts in October, with Devyn Simone, Bevy Smith and Leah Remini all involved.

Comedian Whitney Cummings then stepped in as guest host, before Sherri Shepherd presented the show at the beginning of this month.
