Simona Halep on the ‘incredibly challenging’ 2021 season

To begin with, the former World No.1 called 2021 an “incredibly challenging” year. Besides, while Halep dealt with personal loss, she also suffered the first severe injury in her career. As a result, she missed her “beloved” French Open and couldn’t defend her Wimbledon title.

“I was emotionally exhausted for a long period of time, and then I started to suffer some little injuries until the big one came, the calf injury in Rome. I didn’t know how to manage it because I had never faced something like that before,” Halep wrote on Twitter.
