Stefanos Tsitsipas Reveals What Separates Maria Sakkari From Other WTA Top 10 Players
2021 has been an excellent tennis season for Greek. Both Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari stand in the Top 10 Rankings of the ATP and WTA Tour, respectively. In addition, the two are also competing in the season-ending championship on their respective tours. But mainly, Tsitsipas and Sakkari remain each other’s support system in the tennis world.
Hence, before making his third ATP Finals appearance, Tsitsipas talked about Sakkari’s run in the WTA Finals. He also acknowledged their Tokyo Olympics mixed doubles participation this year. Above all, the ATP World No.4 revealed what makes Sakkari different from other Top 10 WTA players.

Primarily, this year’s French Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas reflected on WTA World No.6 Maria Sakkari‘s 2021 season. And as two representatives of Greece, he felt happy with their work so far.
“I’m proud of her, and I’m proud that we’re both doing this together, each one of us representing our sport at different genders,” Tsitsipas told Eurosport.

Notably, it is the first time in history that a male and female Greek tennis player is competing in the year-ending finale at the same time. No doubt, Tsitsipas is looking forward to doing their best for many years ahead.
“We’re really pushing each other; we’re doing great,” the 23-year-old continued. “I think we’re able to create some positive and good memories together in this sport, and I really hope we can do this for many more years.”
Eventually, Tsitsipas highlighted that Sakkari has a game to do better on the WTA Tour. He also claimed that she “works the most out of every single player in the Top 10.”

Tsitsipas and Sakkari chase year-ending finale title
Indeed, both Tsitsipas and Sakkari would want to finish the 2021 season on a winning note. Interestingly, they look in the mood to do whatever it takes.

In the first group stage match, Tsitsipas will take on Andrey Rublev in the ATP Finals in Turin. On the other side, Sakkari will play against Paula Badosa to improve her semifinal chances in WTA Finals in Guadalajara.
All in all, the tennis fans will have their eyes on both the Greek players during the last tournament of the season. Let’s see if the two puts their name on the trophy or not.
