WWE SmackDown results, grades: Roman Reigns steals Xavier Woods’ crown after vicious attack

The Tribal Chief gets the crown on SmackDown (Picture: WWE)

WWE SmackDown ended with the Bloodline standing tall after Roman Reigns and The Usos destroyed poor Xavier Woods.

The Universal Champion stole his rival’s King of the Ring crown to add a little more fire to proceedings when he faces the New Day star’s teammate Big E at Survivor Series.

It comes after Kofi Kingston was taken out by the group last week, and Paul Heyman told Kayla Braxton earlier in the night that Reigns would either make Woods acknowledge him, or take the knee.

To take things even further, the Tribal Chief agreed to be stripped of the Universal Title and banned from SmackDown if he didn’t follow through on his promise.

The main event itself was as great as you’d expect, with two top level superstars putting on a show for the fans.

The Head of the Table was taken to the limit by King Xavier, and once again he turned to Jimmy and Jey Uso to get him out of trouble.

They caused a DQ ending, given Woods the win on a technicality, and jumped on the attack as they battered him with the steel steps and knocked him over the announce table.

Roman did actually take a knee afterwards, although it was only for his cousins to place Xavier’s crown on his head as the trio – with Paul Heyman – stood tall.

The sensible thing here would be to keep this feud rolling until the Day One pay-per-view on January 1, which is taking place in Woods’ hometown – the perfect scene for a title match before the Royal Rumble.

Toni Storm challenges Charlotte Flair, Sami Zayn and Aliyah get cut from Survivor Series and more

The show kicked off with Sonya Deville introducing the SmackDown women’s Survivor Series team as Shotzi, Natalya, Shayna Baszler and Aliyah all came to the ring followed by Sasha Banks.

The Legit Boss went right after Shotzi after she attacked her last week, while Naomi hit the ring and faced off with Sonya before turning her attention to Shayna.

This sparked a brawl, and the first match of the night saw Aliyah (who got the roll-up win) team up with Banks and Naomi against Shotzi, Baszler and Natalya in an entertaining bout.

Following the bout, Deville continued to be corrupt as she removed Aliyah from the Survivor Series squad despite her big win.

Later in the night, Mustafa Ali approached her but Ricochet interrupted before he could say too much.

Meanwhile, Rick Boogs and Shinsuke Nakamura lost to Los Lotharios in a great match with a somewhat questionable result as the IC Champion took the loss.

Von Wagner looks to be joining Adam Pearce on SmackDown (Picture: WWE)

Backstage, Adam Pearce was flanked by NXT star Von Wagner as he booked Sami Zayn against Jeff Hardy with the loser being taken off the men’s Survivor Series team.

That match, which was as entertaining as you’d expect, took place later on with the Charismatic Enigma hitting a Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb for the win.

Elsewhere, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair came out to hype herself up while taking shots at her rival Becky Lynch before Survivor Series.

Toni Storm made a rare appearance, interrupting the Queen and laying down a challenge for the gold – although Charlotte dismissed it and left to a chorus of boss from the fans.

Hit Row hyped themselves up, but seem set for a feud with Jinder Mahal and Shanky as they interrupted and rapped (badly) about how great they are, and taking shots at the rising group.

We also saw a video promoting Xia Li’s upcoming debut, and Cesaro tried to warn Ridge Holland about Sheamus but the Yorkshireman revealed the Celtic Warrior will be back and by his side next week.

*WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
