WATCH: Tony Hawk Debuts New Skateboarding Move Called ‘The Madge’

Tony Hawk started his professional career at the age of 14. He joined the sport at the young age of 8, and since then, he has not looked back. Post-retirement, he still never fails to astonish his fans with his amazing skills.

Popularly known as Birdman, Hawk released a video game series of his own, which not only appealed to skateboarders but to the uninitiated as well.

Winning competitions, achieving medals, he has become an inspiration to a lot.

On Saturday night, November 13, Hawk debuted a new move known as ‘The Madge’ at the second annual event of Banger in the Hanger.

The iconic skater Tony Hawk performed his new move called ‘The Madge’ at the event last night. Post the event, he shared a video on his Instagram profile regarding the same.

This event has all the makings of what made us fall in love with skateboarding (and halfpipes) in the first place: a gathering of misfits creating their own techniques while having a deep sense of camaraderie and community,” posted the star skater.

The event turned out to be a chance where he could present his new move. He has been trying the move for some time now, but the motivation to make it official was absent.

Here was my contribution to the scene: a new trick that I have been testing for a few weeks but didn’t have the motivation to commit to… until I was surrounded by a brethren of vert loyalists. I call it The Madge but you can dissect it with combo names however you want,” says the Instagram post.

The 53-year-old is extremely dedicated to the sport and remains one of the most influential skaters.

Partnering up with Activision might have screwed Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk recently showed up in one of the episodes of Schulz’s podcast ‘Fragrant 2.’ In the podcast, Hawk revealed an amusing story when they talked about his partnership with Activision.

Before the game was launched, the company knew it would be successful. They tried to make a deal with Hawk.

And they called me right before the release and they said ‘we want to offer you a buyout of future royalties.’ I’d like.. they said ‘we would we want to buy you off for half a million dollars.’ At that time in my life, someone saying a half a million dollars sounded like a gazillion billion dollars,” Hawk said.

For each game, Hawk earns a certain amount from the company. Hawk earned approximately $1.4 billion from his own game “Pro Skater.” And his net worth has been significantly increasing since the video game franchise.
