“GOAT”: US Olympic Legend Lauds Lewis Hamilton for Incredible Win at Brazilian GP

F1 racing legend Lewis Hamilton fetched a plethora of praises on the internet as he recorded an incredible victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix last night. Notably, amongst a long list of his admirers, one name that stood out was that of US track and field legend, Michael Johnson.

While Lewis has won many races during his legendary career, Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix was extraordinary, as he made a stunning comeback to win the race. Hamilton triumphed over Belgian-Dutch racer Max Verstappen to claim first place on the podium.

The Brazilian Grand Prix took place on Sunday in Sao Paulo. However, it was a nail-biting race for Lewis and his fans, as the Mercedes driver faced penalty obstacles during the race. Hamilton received a setback of a 25 place grid penalty that he served over two days.

Albeit, Lewis turned things around for him, proving why he is the greatest of all time, clinching the race by 10 seconds margin. A race that could’ve been one of the biggest disappointments of his career turned out to be one of the best, astonishingly.

Belgian-Dutch racer Max Verstappen came second, 10 seconds behind Hamilton, while Valtteri Bottas finished 13.57 seconds behind. Notably, Four-time Olympic gold medalist, and US track and field legend, Michael Johnson, tweeted to applaud his record-breaking performance.

Johnson wrote, “10th to 3rd in five laps! GOAT!”

Michael Johnson’s Olympic career

54-year-old now, Johnson was the Olympic champion before the likes of Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin stepped on the track. Michael had clinched gold at the four mega-quadrennial games during his 1994 Barcelona to 2000 Sydney Olympics career. In the 20th century, he used to hold the title of the ”world’s fastest man.”

Talking about speed, Lewis Hamilton will next compete in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2021, starting on November 21st. While he clinched the podium in Brazil, he is still behind Max Verstappen in the world rankings at the second position. Do you think Hamilton can surpass him by the end of 2021?
