No Way Back? Carlos Correa Makes His Intentions Clear With Stunning Move On Twitter

The saga involving Carlos Correa continues to intrigue baseball fans across the world. Following the Houston Astros’ defeat to the Atlanta Braves in the World Series this year, the 27-year-old became a free agent as the Astros failed to tie him down to a new deal during the season.

With teams like the New York Yankees chasing his signature, thoughts on Correa’s future run wild these days. And earlier today, the shortstop made a stunning gesture involving his Twitter bio.

Carlos Correa makes a shocking change to his Twitter bio

The 27-year-old featured among the highlights of the Astros’ season this year. In the regular season, he scored 104 runs and recorded 92 RBI with an OPS of .850. Along with his exploits on the diamond as a shortstop, Correa recorded a WAR of 7.2 which showed how valuable he was to the World Series finalists.

Throughout the season, Correa insisted he deserved a more lucrative contract in the future. However, the Astros failed to tie him down with a contract he liked, which saw him become a free agent for next season.

Although the Astros attempted to re-sign the shortstop with a five-year, $160million extension, it seems he has already made up his mind. In a stunning turn of events, the 27-year-old’s bio no longer features the words ‘Astros shortstop.’

While this spells trouble for the Astros, it’s good news for other teams looking to add Correa to their rosters.

The New York Yankees look most likely to land Correa

Even before officially becoming a free agent, the Yankees made their interest in Correa very clear. The 27-time World Series champions need a high-quality shortstop, and they don’t come much better than the 27-year-old at the moment.

However, Corey Seager’s free agency also interests the Yankees. Aged the same as Correa, the Los Angeles Dodgers star is a left-handed hitter, which could solve another crucial issue they have in their hitting depth.

Many questions remain unanswered after another day in the off-season. With several options available to the Yankees, only time will tell who ends up donning the stripes of the iconic AL team.
