‘Not a Great Day of Football’: Tom Brady Shocked After Washington Wipes the Floor with Tampa Bay

Tom Brady and Tampa Bay Buccaneers just couldn’t get out of the blocks this Sunday. This year’s MVP favorite put on a dismal performance against Washington Football Team, which led to the Buccaneers’ third loss of the season. They are losing their grip on the top spot in the NFC South rapidly, and they need reinforcements.

Not only did Brady fail to get his team over the line, he threw two interceptions as well. Brady throwing an interception has become a common sight towards the second half of this season, which would mean warning bells for the Bucs. If TB12 isn’t firing on all cylinders, the entire franchise could fall apart.

Lamenting his turnover issues and poor performance, Brady’s post-match conference resembled a funeral. The Bucs’ fearless leader was in no mood to answer questions, but put on a brave face. He commended Washington on playing a good game with a good plan, but also laid into his own team’s mistakes.

“We just never really played on our terms. We played from behind the whole game. They played a good game. They had a good plan. We have obviously not a great day of football for us. Doesn’t matter who you play if we have a bunch of self-inflicted errors. We gotta eliminate those and see if we can go out and execute the plays that are there. We started with the ball. They came away with it.”

Safe to say, Brady was more shocked than disappointed. Washington has been nothing short of disappointing this season, but taking down the reigning Super Bowl Champions must give them a much-needed shot in the arm. As for the Buccaneers, it’s back to the drawing board.

Brady can’t win games alone

During his days with the Patriots, Tom Brady could change the face of the game single handedly. He wasn’t just the best quarterback in the league, but a flat out star who could swing the momentum in his favor. But that was a Tom Brady who could still run up and down the field with ease.

Despite the TB12 lifestyle, Brady is 44 and still working tremendously hard to get his team over the line. Last season, Brady’s involvement in Tampa Bay’s march to glory is nothing short of stupendous. At this age, delivering performances like this is something entirely superhuman.

But Brady can no longer win games by himself. Against Washington, Brady missed three of his favorite targets; Antonio Brown, Rob Gronkowski and Chris Godwin. Despite having Leonard Fournette and Mike Evans on the pitch, Brady missing three of his favorite targets played a huge part in one of the most shocking upsets of the season.
