Dancing With The Stars 2021: Amanda Kloots honours Nick Cordero with stunning performance

Amanda Kloots honoured Nick Cordero with her latest Dancing With The Stars performance, leaving everyone fighting back tears.

The TV personality, 39, and partner Alan Bersten, 27, were given a perfect score for their emotional contemporary routine, in which they danced to a cover of Live Your Life, her late husband’s track.

Speaking about how important the track had become to the couple in the days before Cordero’s death, she recalled the devastating times she would spend by his hospital bed last summer, before he died of complications due to coronavirus.

‘To me the power of holding someone’s hand is so, there is just nothing like it because you know you have someone that has you,’ she said. ‘I just wanted him to know that I had him.

‘We played Live Your Life all day and we slowly let him go.

‘To be able to put a beautiful dance to one of my husband’s songs I don’t know if there could be anything more special or meaningful to me. Let’s do this for everybody who has lost someone and for Nick.’

The routine touched everyone, with the judges heaping praise on Kloots’ performance.

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Bruno Tonioli said: ‘I’m sure you touched the heart of the nation.

‘This is beyond critique. I lived something with you tonight. He’s proud of you and he’s smiling on you.’

Derek Hough simply agreed: ‘I’m really, really happy that you’ll always have this moment.’

However, the perfect score and stunning routine weren’t quite enough to keep the mum-of-one safe as she ended in the bottom two with Suni Lee.

The judges unanimously voted to send the Olympic gold medal winner home, alongside her professional partner, Sasha Farber.

Kloots and Cordero met in 2013 when they both starred in Bullets Over Broadway, and share son Elvis together.

The Broadway actor fell ill last year with what they initially thought was pneumonia, and was placed on a ventilator shortly after being taken to hospital.

He spent over three months getting treatment and had his leg amputated after suffering blood clots.

On July 6, Kloots confirmed that her husband had died, writing on Instagram: ‘God has another angel in heaven now. My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.

‘I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician.

‘He loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday.’
