Great British Bake Off 2021: Jurgen eliminated ahead of final during tense patisserie week

Great British Bake Off’s Jurgen was eliminated from the beloved Channel 4 series in tonight’s tense semi-final.

Judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood opted to send Chiggs, Crystelle and Giuseppe through to battle it out for the winning title in next week’s final after impressing in patisserie week.

Sadly though, it was the end of the road for Jurgen with comedian Matt Lucas having the unfortunate job of revealing the news to him.

‘I feel kind of ok,’ Jurgen said upon hearing the verdict. ‘I kind of saw it coming. I think the others are more shocked than I am.’

He continued: ‘It’s been incredible. I’ve really enjoyed being here, I’ve made friends for life and I will be with them in spirit.’

Jurgen’s co-stars had nothing but praise for him though, with Crystelle branding him an ‘inspiration’ and one of the most ‘incredible bakers ever’.

Meanwhile, Noel Fielding announced that Crystelle was star baker.

Great British Bake Off concludes on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
