Strictly Come Dancing’s Aljaž Škorjanec won’t be quitting the show, according to his wife Jannette Manrara, despite what fans thought following his ‘farewell’ speech on Sunday night.

The professional dancer, 31, and his celebrity partner Sara Davies, 37, became the seventh couple to be given the boot from Strictly at the weekend, following a nail-biting dance off with Tilly Ramsay and her partner Nikita Kuzmin.

However, as they waved goodbye to the competition Aljaz had fans anxious when it appeared he was hinting his time on Strictly was over.

‘You [Sara] have been an absolute joy and a testament to hard work – not just on Strictly but with your business and you’re a beautiful mother,’ he said.

’I’m going to miss you so much. I’m going to miss dancing with you. I’m going to miss everything about this show.’

Addressing the concerns from fans, Aljaz’s wife appeared on Zoe Ball’s radio 2 show and said: ‘He is not leaving!

‘I’m going to like put an end to the rumours, it’s not happening. He’s too in love with the show, he’s too in love with the show.

‘I think he was just so happy with Sara and they just created such an amazing bond, an amazing friendship.’

‘He fell in love going up to Newcastle and being with her family and meeting everybody up there, up north,’ she continued. ‘So I think he was just gutted that the series ended for him.

‘But you know we are friends with her, I told her she is stuck with us forever, she has no choice.’

With Sara out of the running for the Glitterball trophy, Tilly and Dan Walker are now favourites to be next on the chopping block.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
