Making history as the first woman and person of color to be mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu regularly featured her children during her campaign as a mayoral candidate.

She has two children named Blaise and Cass, born in 2014 and 2017 respectively.

She had both children with her 36-year-old husband Conor Pewarski,


What is Michelle Wu’s family life like?

Wu got married in 2012 to her husband who is a banker and Yale University graduate.

The pair have publicly stated that they are looking forward to celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary in September 2022.

In addition to the various photo opportunities with her children, Wu also made sure to emphasize the importance of her children in her life by stating on her website that: “As a mom to Blaise and Cass, every day I feel the urgency of families fighting the system to hear us, and to build communities that are healthy, safe, and resilient”.

What was Michelle Wu’s road to fame?

Born to Taiwanese parents who immigrated to the US, Wu grew up in Chicago before relocating to Boston to pursue her undergraduate degree at Harvard University.

She later went on to pursue her law degree from Harvard Law School, and also worked as a business consultant and lawyer.

Her chance for the mayoral position came when the Boston mayoral seat became vacant as President Biden had chosen former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh to be the Secretary of Labor.

Thus, the former Mayor had to resign to avail himself for Biden’s appointment. The seat was then temporarily filled by City Council President Kim Janey.

The 36-year-old Boston mayor won her seat in November 2020 by a resounding 60% when she defeated fellow Democrat, Annissa Essaibi George.
