Hollyoaks’ Duncan James breaks world record in video stunt

HOLLYOAKS hunk Duncan James has made it into the Guinness World Record books.

Blue star Duncan, 43, who was in the soap for two years before his character Ryan Knight was dramatically killed off, recorded a special ‘Happy 60th Birthday’ video message for Mecca Bingo.

Duncan James has help break a world record

And helped the bingo giant break the record for the number of ‘Happy Birthday’ video messages ever received in an hour.

In the video, Duncan is in the back of a car on his way to work when he records his own special message wishing them another 60 years.

Duncan is currently filming ITV’s Strictly The Full Monty, and is set to perform a saucy striptease in Blackpool this Christmas.

Other celebrities who helped secure the world record include Duncan’s Blue bandmate Anthony Costa, Gogglebox star Sandi Bogle, Strictly dancer Robin Windsor and reality babe Jess Impiazzi.

As well as bingo fans all over the country who sent in their own special birthday wishes.

Sam Fay, Head of Strategy at Mecca Bingo, said: “Turning 60 is a huge milestone for us at Mecca so we wanted to celebrate it with something big and what better than breaking a Guinness World Record.”

But it’s not the first time that Mecca Bingo have been Guinness World Record holders.

In 2017 they set the record for the largest game of office bingo in the world. The special game saw 235 Mecca staff take part in game that smashed the previous world record of 97.

They are also on track to beat the record for the most Happy Birthday video messages ever received.

And are close to securing another Guinness World Record to round off the celebrations.

While Mecca man Anthony Conroy, added: “We always knew our 60th birthday would be a huge event but this really is something special.


“The video messages have all been incredible, and it goes to show how much Mecca Bingo has been a part of so many peoples lives over the the years.

“We’ve had so many sent in already and just need a few more to break yet another world record.”
