‘I Will Be the Sniper to Take Her Out’- Miesha Tate Warns Amanda Nunes Says She Will Take Her Down

When it comes to female MMA fighters, Miesha Tate is one of the most prominent names in the sport. However, ‘Cupcake’ took a long hiatus from fighting after a two-fight skid in 2016.

Recently, the former UFC bantamweight champion made her much-awaited return to the UFC octagon. She defeated Marion Reneau in her last UFC fight and cemented her position in the top-10 of the division.

Being a celebrated fighter in the UFC, Tate could have asked for a title shot against the current champion Amanda Nunes for her return. However, the American born claimed to earn it her way and won’t rush things in the division. And also warned Nunes that she will take her out.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Tate said, “I get to be the boss of my career and I feel like the ball is in my court. So I feel like it’s the more respectful way to climb the rankings in the division. And I feel like it’s a proper progression, and that’s exactly what I want out of my career.”

“Sometimes, you only get one shot and when I take that shot at Amanda, it will be the perfect timing. I’ll have the perfect aim. I will be the sniper to take her out. But I’m not going to jump the gun.”

“You know what I mean? I’m gonna build my way into it, I’m gonna make sure I’m allowing my body the time to evolve, my mind, everything to be in that perfect form so that when I get to that title shot, you know, I’ll be ready.”

Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes 2: A Possibility

‘Cupcake’ and ‘Lioness’ crossed paths once at UFC 200. The latter dethroned Tate of her bantamweight crown via a first-round submission win. It was one good women’s fight in the UFC, and it garnered a lot of attention from the fans.

However, both the combatants never crossed paths for a second slugfest. Tate has an impressive professional fighting career of  19-7 under her name. She is currently #8 in the division after a recent win.

‘Cupcake’ is set for her next fight against the #7 in the bantamweight division of UFC Ketlen Vieira on 20th November. Meanwhile, Nunes with an MMA resume of 21-4 sits on the pinnacle of two divisions: bantamweight and featherweight of UFC.

‘Lioness’ is scheduled to defend her bantamweight title against Julianna Pena next month. If Tate is able to secure some more wins under her belt, she will surely ladder up the division and get a title shot against Nunes.

Meanwhile, the latter will probably reign the bantamweight division, considering her current form. Hence, there is a possibility for a much-anticipated rematch to come to fruition.
