Scottie Pippen Backtracks on Michael Jordan Ruining Basketball in Latest Chicago Bulls Claim

The Chicago Bulls are one of the most notable franchises of the NBA. Made famous by Michael Jordan and their all winning team in the 90s, they have been big ever since. However, few players of the famous Bulls team don’t seem to see eye to eye. Especially, Scottie Pippen and Jordan, who are one of the best one-two punches in NBA history. Recently, though, Pippen went back on one of the comments he made on Jordan.

Pippen has been extremely active with the media recently. However, he hasn’t attracted the greatest attention because of his comments. While promoting his various products and his memoir, ‘Unguardable’, Pippen has not been kind to some of the legends. Notably, his own teammate, Michael Jordan.

In a recent interview, Pippen explained some of his previous comments and seemed to take them back in a way.

Scottie Pippen explains Michael Jordan ruining basketball claim

While speaking to the media a while ago. Pippen caught many eyes for a certain comment. He said that Jordan ruined the game of basketball because kids tried to emulate him. This resulted in them not trying to pass and be like MJ and score.

Pippen said that LeBron was the greatest because he embodied the true nature of basketball. However, it seems Scottie is taking back his comments in his recent interview.

Pippen said: “That style of basketball early on that Michael played before the triangle was put into the game. That type of basketball was not winning basketball. And I don’t consider you know, that ruining the game, but it’s not winning.”

Pippen cleared the fact that Michael Jordan did not ruin the game. But he still believes that Jordan created an atmosphere where winning basketball was not followed. He refers this to Jordan’s pre-championship self when he was the lone star on the Bulls. Michael Jordan has always been the scorer, but before he had to do it a lot more to keep Chicago afloat.

Pippen believed this may have rubbed off in the wrong way and spread the message of just the importance of scoring at the time. However, Jordan was a master of defense as well. He has won a DPOY award and even made multiple All-Defensive teams through his career. Coming to playmaking, that was never his job on the team. However, for LeBron James, he had to do it all because of the players he had around.
