Im A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here is just days away from starting and preparations are well under way.

As this year’s cohort of stars arrived in a motorcade of cars, the final tests were being carried out on the pyrotechnics to ensure this series begins with a bang.

Taking place in Wales for the second year in a row due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, viewers are set to see Gwyrch Castle illuminated with flames as the series kicks off.

In the first photos from the set, large flames were seen shooting up around the castle to make for a dramatic entrance for this year’s contestants.

The group, which includes Richard Madeley and Louise Minchin, were also seen taking part in their first terrifying task of the series.

Their fear of heights will be put to the test in the first challenge, in which they were seen on high scaffolding over a quarry, attached by safety wires on their backs as they were tasked with walking to the end of a ledge.

Ant and Dec were seen grimacing at the challenge, no doubt relieved that it wasn’t them that had to walk the plank.

Similar challenges have taken place in past series when the show was filmed in Australia, but most trials were confined to the castle last year due to Covid regulations

Ex-contestant Vernon Kay revealed on Good Morning Britain this week: ‘This year I’m hearing that they are going to leave the castle grounds.

‘We did have stuff planned to do in the sea I think, in the Irish Sea but that all got canned because we couldn’t leave the castle grounds.

‘So I am hoping it’s going to get tougher, I’m hoping its going to get colder because let’s not forget it’s on a little bit later this year, and the first week that we were in the castle it was actually quite warm and we were walking around in shorts.’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! starts on Sunday November 21 at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
