NBA Legend Scottie Pippen Reveals if Tom Brady Shares Michael Jordan’s GOAT Status

With the release of his new book “Unguarded”, the Chicago Bulls legend, Scottie Pippen has been giving several interviews. In these interviews, Scottie talks about past experiences, current NBA, and he has also become somewhat of a critic. Even his old teammate and rival Michael Jordan could not save himself from the criticism of Pip. This past Thursday, in an interview with the GQ magazine, Tom Brady was his latest target.

Tom Brady is not the GOAT of the NFL?

When Pippen was asked about where he would put himself among the greatest NBA players of all time, he said, “I’m gonna say, in basketball, there’s no way to place yourself, you know?”

Scottie then addressed the NFL, “There’s hard to play Tom Brady at the top of the NFL even though he’s won a lot of championships, there are almost 70 players on each team. Is he playing on every side of the football? Is he on kickoff, is he on the punt return? Because if he ain’t plying all the roles, then he gotta give credit to his team.”

It seems like even after winning the most Super Bowls in the history of the NFL does not make you the best in the eyes of Scottie Pippen. Brady acquired his seventh Super Bowl ring with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last February. He alone has won more championships than any other team’s entire existence in the NFL. The 44-year-old is still considered one of the best quarterbacks to ever throw the ball.

Brady has over 82,000 passing yards, and he is responsible for throwing 608 passing touchdowns through his amazing career.

Scottie considers himself the GOAT of the NBA

While answering the questions about the NBA’s all-time greats, Pippen said,” I place myself with the greatest team that ever played in the NBA.” Scottie believes he belongs with the best of the best. But when he was asked about Michael Jordan, he said, “I may go as far to say Mike ruined basketball,” the reason Pippen gives for that statement is, “In the 1980s on the playgrounds, you’d have everyone played moving the ball around – passing to help the team. That stopped in the 1990s. Kids wanted to be ‘Like Mike’.”

Back in their prime when Jordan and Pippen were teammates, Scottie was always considered as Robin to MJ’s Batman. Being outshined by the greatness of the Black Cat started a feud between the two. With the recent words of Scottie in his book and the interviews, it seems like he still holds grudges against Jordan. Maybe this is the reason he doesn’t like Brady or anyone who might be considered as the ‘GOAT’ of their respective sport.
