Alexander Zverev Makes Special Request for Novak Djokovic at Australian Open 2022
We are just months away from the prestigious ‘Australian Open’ 2022. With the preparations of the tournament kicking off, players have started to announce their availability at the ‘Happy Slam’. However, World No. 1, Novak Djokovic is yet to speak on his participation in the competition.
Just after defeating Novak Djokovic at the 2021 Nitto ATP Finals, Alexander Zverev talked about getting vaccinated and entering another country. However, Zverev believes, Djokovic should be given an exemption from the Australian government.

Just ahead of the Major tournament at Melbourne Park, Alexander Zverev has given his perspective on following the rules. The world No. 3 feels focus should be on the protocols released by the Australian government.

” This is not about tennis, this is about the virus. We are visiting a different country and they are allowing us to enter. We need to follow the rules,” said Alexander Zverev. The Australian Open 2022 is taking place from 17th January to 30th January at Melbourne Park, Australia. Moreover, the tournament director has also announced 100% crowd will be allowed at the stadium.
Subsequently, Zverev commented on the uncertainty of Novak Djokovic’s participation at the Australian Open 2022. Zverev added, ” Djokovic is number 1 in the world so he should be there, hopefully, the government will make an exemption or whatever.” Unfortunately, World No. 1 is yet to confirm his availability at the ‘Happy Slam’ in 2022.

The German stuns Djokovic at 2021 Nitto ATP Finals
Alexander Zverev outshined Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the Nitto ATP Finals as Zverev commanded over the important moments of the match. Moreover, during the entire match, the German smashed 14 hammered aces, and also had more win% in the second serve.

As a matter of fact, this is the second time Zverev has defeated Djokovic in a three-set contest. Just a few months ago, Zverev crushed Djokovic’s Golden Slam dream at Tokyo Olympics 2020. Trailing behind by one-set, Zverev pulled off a staggering victory with 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
