Jeff Hardy reveals ‘rejected’ WWE storyline with ‘old psychic’ he made before fans returned

Jeff Hardy is also striving for ways to display his creativity and he’s revealed one recent WWE pitch which bosses rejected.

The Charismatic Enigma admitted he had a more in-depth plan to bring his beloved No More Words theme music – which he’d insisted on as part of his current contract – back on screen, but his idea didn’t make it very far.

Speaking in Brooklyn, New York before Survivor Series, he exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘There was one idea before No More Words came back, about me going to this old psychic and kinda like down on myself, not feeling like I was good enough anymore.

‘But then she tells me a story, and ends up saying something like, “It’s time for no more words”. I did pitch that, but it never happened.

‘There’d have been a lot of cool vignettes. It didn’t work out. We got the audience back, they hit the music and it was like nothing had changed from 08, 09.’

As a living legend, you might assume Jeff has an open door policy with Vince McMahon, but even the former world champion admitted is ‘hesitant’ about approaching the boss with his more out-there ideas.

‘I’m still very hesitant about it,’ he admitted, but confirmed a new Willow mask is on the way as he looks to bring his creation to WWE. ‘This new Willow mask that’s in the process now, if it looks good and it feels right, that Willow idea I’ve got will be going straight to Vince.

‘What’s the worst that could happen? “I don’t think that, that’s not gonna happen”. Or, “I love that! Maybe that’ll out.” It’s all depending on this new Willow mask, man.’

At this point in his career, Jeff feels it’s ‘the perfect time’ to introduce Willow to a new audience after creating it long before becoming a WWE superstar, and then later playing the character in IMPACT Wrestling.

‘It’s the perfect time for it. Back in the day, before we became WWE superstars, Willow was my main deal. I’ll never forget a storyline we did where I unmasked myself and I was actually crying,’ he added.

‘Some people, kids especially, didn’t know that I Was Willow. Even now, I hear a few chants – not chants, but people like, “Where’s Willow? Where’s Willow?” People are aware of the idea, so I think it would be very special.’

The superstar has tried to be hands-on with wrestling as a creative outlet, and he was a major force behind his controversial storyline with Sheamus last year which focused on Jeff’s issues with addiction.

‘Even with the Sheamus storyline, the bar fight was kinda my idea – along with one of the other writers. I actually wrote a lot of stuff around it. I knew the payoff was gonna be extremely great,’ he insisted.

‘All that negative stuff people said, I knew the outcome was gonna be good I guess… I think I always knew the endgame would be a positive. I think people respect honesty, especially with real life situations like alcoholism and addiction.

‘That’s a serious topic. In the moment, I think everything happens for a reason. I think I experience all of this for a reason, I think it’s got me where I am. I think it’s all happened for a reason – hopefully!’
