Lamar Jackson Can Pull a Michael Jordan ‘Flu Game’ Amidst Questionable Status Against Chicago Bears

Lamar Jackson has been battling with flu-like symptoms for the past few days. The illness of the Baltimore Ravens quarterback has kept him from attending two of his practice sessions earlier this week. Although he was a full go during Friday’s practice session of the Ravens, but the team’s sudden move to change the status of the former MVP to ‘questionable’ has raised many questions.

Although the Ravens will assign the QB role to Trace McSorley during Jackson’s absence, however, according to ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter, “A league source on the status of Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson for Sunday’s game in Chicago against the Bears: ‘I’d say it’s 50-50. He’s sick–not Covid.’”

Baltimore Ravens QB to mimic a Michael Jordan flu game

However, if the 24-year-old Lamar Jackson plays on Sunday, it is going to be his first appearance against the Chicago Bears. If he plays with such flu-like symptoms (not COVID) he will recreate the iconic Michael Jordan flu game which was and still is one of the most talked-about moments in the NBA era.

It was back in 1998 when, during the fifth NBA Finals game, Michael Jordan played against the Utah Jazz while struggling with flu-like symptoms. He pulled off an enormous 38 point game in 44 minutes in such situations, leading the Chicago Bulls to a victory. Although later it was found out that he had food poisoning instead.

Lamar Jackson persistent with the flu

However, it will not be the first time that we suspect Lamar Jackson to play a flu game like MJ. His week 14 matchup against the Cleveland Browns late in the 2020 season also lead to such comparisons as we saw Lamar rushing to the locker room.

So either Lamar doesn’t play and the Bears catch a break, or Lamar plays like Flu Game Jordan and puts up 600 total yards and 7 TDs. No in-between. https://t.co/oyWqyssOQm

Lamar Jackson has had many instances of being infected by flu as he has missed four of his practice sessions so far this season because of flu. Yet he has only missed two games for the Baltimore Ravens ever since he was drafted by them.
