Megan Thee Stallion pulls out of AMAs performance with BTS over ‘unexpected personal issue’

Megan Thee Stallion has pulled out of this year’s American Music Awards, due to an unexpected personal issue.
The Savage singer was expected to perform alongside K-Pop heavyweights BTS, for a rendition of their hit single Butter.
The 26-year-old musician had been scheduled to take to the stage at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater at tonight’s star-studded ceremony, but she confirmed that she will no longer be at the event.
Megan shared the news with her 7million followers on Twitter, penning: ‘Hotties I was so excited to go to the @AMAs and perform with @BTS_official, but due to an unexpected personal matter, I can no longer attend.
‘I’m so sad! I really can’t wait to hit the stage with my guys and perform #BTS_Butter real soon! [sic].’
It is unclear why the rapper had to pull out of the awards show, but organisers responded and said she will be missed.
A tweet from the AMAs account read: ‘We will miss you, @theestallion!’
Many fans have speculated that her absence from the show may be due to to the recent death of her close friend – rapper Young Dolph.
Dolph — real name Adolph Thornton Jr. — was shot and killed on Wednesday November 17, at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis, Tennessee.
BTS – who are also nominated for three awards, favorite pop song, favorite pop duo or group, and the coveted artist of the year – will still be performing twice during the show.

Billy Porter, Machine Gun Kelly, Brandy, Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, JoJo Siwa, and Winnie Harlow will be dishing out prizes, with WAP rapper Cardi B hosting the musical bash.
Others scheduled to entertain the crowd include Bad Bunny, Olivia Rodrigo – who is making her debut at the AMAs – Tyler, The Creator, Diplo, Jennifer Lopez and Maneskin.
