“Our Relationship is Stronger Than Win or Defeat”: Novak Djokovic After Losing to Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev once again did the unthinkable and defeated Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of the ATP Finals 2021. The German played some quite attacking shots and executed his gameplay brilliantly under pressure. The final scoreline of the match was 7(7)-6(4), 4-6, 6-3.

Before this, Zverev also denied Djokovic his Golden Slam after defeating him in the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Even though he lost to the Serbian legend in the semis of the US Open 2021 after a five-set marathon, he took his revenge in Turin.

Djokovic confident Zverev will go on to win a Grand Slam

In the same press conference, Djokovic claimed that he is pretty sure that Zverev will be a Grand Slam champion one day. So far, the German’s best record at the Grand Slams came at the US Open 2020, where he ended up as the runner-up after losing to Dominic Thiem in the finals.

Interestingly, that remains the only Grand Slam final in which he has featured to date.

Alexander Zverev will face World No.2 Daniil Medvedev in the finals of the ATP Finals 2021. The Russian has already defeated him once in the tournament and thus, will begin as the favorite before the match. Will Zverev be able to stop Medvedev from defending his title in Turin and end his 2021 season on a great high?
