WATCH: Chase Elliott Dons F1 Driver Daniel Ricciardo’s Gear at USAC Midget Race

This year’s Formula 1 race at Austin firmly established F1’s entry into American hearts. During the weekend, fans in record attendance were treated not just to F1 but to stock car action as well. Daniel Ricciardo represented F1 to NASCAR fans as he put in a few laps in Dale Earnhardt’s car. And now it was NASCAR’s turn to represent F1, courtesy of Chase Elliott.

In a recent USAC midget race, Elliott was sporting a piece of Daniel Ricciardo clothing. In a picture posted by NASCAR’s official Instagram account, the Hendrick Motorsports driver can be seen wearing a grey-black graphic t-shirt with Ricciardo’s name emblazoned across the front.

Chase Elliott relatively new to dirt racing

It’s a very well-known fact that Kyle Larson is as established a name in dirt racing as he is now in NASCAR. But Chase Elliott is not so established or familiar with the dirt racing world.

In fact, he only made his debut earlier in 2021. Elliott’s handful of midget racing experiences include Chili Bowl Nationals, BC39, USAC NOS Energy Drink National, Bubba Raceway Park.

Earlier this year, he had spoken about trying to learn ‘as quick as he can’ about dirt racing. He also described leaning on dirt racing ‘veteran’ and teammate Kyle Larson for knowledge.

“Kyle (Larson) has been great, he’s been super open and honest talking about midget and dirt racing in general. As much as he’s willing to share, I’m certainly going to lean on him at least to help me get going,” Elliott said as reported by Bristol Motor Speedway.

It seems like Elliott has a long way to go to learn when it comes to dirt car racing.

Because it was Kyle Larson who ended up winning the Hangtown 100 on Friday, setting himself up nicely for the main event which he won in 2019 as well.
