Netflix’s Bridgerton has finally wrapped up production after facing three delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The period romance series which stars Phoebe Dynevor, Jonathan Bailey, and newcomer Simone Ashley, smashed viewing records for the streaming service, however, that title now belongs to the Korean drama Squid Game.

Showrunner Chris Van Dusen confirmed the exciting news on Instagram, which left fans counting down the days until they can see the prestige and powerful family again.

Chris captioned the post: ‘That’s a wrap on Season Two! So proud of this cast and crew who brought their A-games to work each and every day in this very challenging year.

‘And these two in this photo with me right here. Words are not enough. Coming in 2022.’

Actress Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington in the regency drama, recently admitted to fans online that she’s seen the first episode and described it as ‘f***ing brilliant’.

Bridgerton had been filming in London and Bath since March of 2021 until production was halted in mid-July when a crew member tested positive for Covid-19.

While production was resumed the following day, it was halted again within 24 hours following the second positive case on set for an indefinite break.

It then resumed filming in August but was stopped again on September 5 when more positive cases of coronavirus were detected on set.

The upcoming season of the show is going to focus on the eldest of the Bridgerton siblings, Anthony in his quest to find love.

Sex Education star Simone has joined the cast as Kate Sharma, a smart, headstrong young woman who will enchant our Anthony even though he is set to marry her younger sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran).

Fans were devastated to find out that Regé-Jean Page would not be returning to play Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings.

The series, which is produced by Shonda Rhimes, has already been commissioned for seasons three and four.

We can’t wait.

Bridgerton is available to watch on Netflix.
