“Getting There”: Dominic Thiem Flaunts Perfect One-Handed Backhand Ahead of Return
Last year’s US Open champion, Dominic Thiem, had quite a challenging 2021 season, both mentally and physically. But now, four months after recovering from a severe wrist injury, he is back on the court. Recently, Thiem teased tennis fans by crushing some eye-pleasing one-handed backhand shots during training.
The 28-yr-old had to wait a lot before he could start tennis training again. Although he had found his lost motivation back, his body wasn’t still there. However, the new video from Thiem clears all the doubts surrounding his return to the ATP Tour.

Dominic Thiem kicks off training for the 2022 season
Thiem has arguably the best one-handed backhand in tennis. Even former World No.2 Tommy Haas picked his one-handed backhand over Swiss maestro Roger Federer.
In the new training video, the Austrian ace seemed to be in the right place and mood after a long time. He captioned the video, “Getting there.”
Without a doubt, the video gives hope to tennis fans for a spectacular comeback from him in 2022. Although there are several doubts regarding his level, Thiem looks ready to hit them away with his tennis racquet.
But it is always easier said than done. From here on, Thiem will look forward to improving every aspect of his game. But most of all, he will look to better his wristwork again.

While the tennis world will go on holiday as the 2021 season has ended, Thiem will utilize the time for grinding, with an eye on his big comeback at the Australian Open 2022.
Thus, the 28-year-old Austrian has two months to get his game back. The first annual Grand slam will begin on 17th January next year.
When will Thiem return to the ATP Tour?
Thiem will begin his 2022 campaign at an exhibition event in Abu Dhabi. Besides him, Spanish great Rafael Nadal will also join him in the tournament. Interestingly, Nadal also had a similar fateful end to his 2021 season as Thiem.

Undoubtably, Thiem has started his pre-season well, working out on his best shot. Slowly and steadily, he will aim to develop his best possible tennis again.
Hopefully, Thiem will come back with 100% fitness on the ATP Tour. Only time will tell if he gets to the top again or not.
