Holly Willoughby was back on This Morning alongside Phillip Schofield on Monday, following a short illness last week.

The 40-year-old presenter was absent from the ITV daytime show from Wednesday through until Thursday with Josie Gibson stepping in to replace her alongside Phil.

However, Holly returned to the sofa today and seemed right as rain.

‘It is really good to be back,’ she said. ‘I’m much better now, sorry about that, it really took me down.’

Holly added that her son Chester, who she shares with husband Dan Baldwin, was also ill.

‘We’re fine now,’ she stressed.

Holly also went on to thank Josie for doing ‘an amazing job’ for coming in to look after the show.

‘She was amazing,’ Phil agreed.

‘Well, all I did was watch you, it was an amazing show,’ Holly exclaimed. ‘I really enjoyed myself in my sick bed.’

She then joked she was ‘glad’ to be at home while the man with the biggest penis sat down for an interview on the This Morning sofa.

Last week, Phil opened Wednesday’s show alongside regular competition host Josie, with the pair both looking confused as Holly was nowhere to be seen.

The host began alongside Josie: ‘This is a bit of a first! I don’t know, about an hour ago you were on your way to do our live competitions in Surrey.’

He quickly explained how Josie was driven back to the studio after Holly wasn’t unable to complete her slot for today’s programme.

Josie later revealed how she cried for half-an-hour following her debut in the driver’s seat.

‘Do you know what? Social media can be quite a dark place at times,’ she wrote.

‘But yesterday I was showered with love. I had a good cry, I did have a cry for about half an hour after the show.’

Her co-host joked that he often did the same, before asking: ‘Of what, relief?’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
