Piers Morgan has found himself in hot water with Adele fans over his controversial comments about her during the TV special An Audience With Adele.

The Easy On Me singer hosted the star-studded concert special at the London Palladium, with ITV airing the show on Sunday, in celebration of the release of her new album 30.

Samuel L Jackson, Alan Carr, Emma Watson, and many more celebrities were seen in the audience, with some taking the opportunity to ask the music star, 33, some questions.

However, it seemed like the outspoken journalist, 56, may have been a little salty over the lack of invitation.

Piers tweeted: ‘If I was at this #AnAudienceWithAdele, I’d ask her two questions:

‘1) Does the unctuous sycophancy from your celebrity fans make you want to vomit?

‘2) How come you’re singing more perfectly ‘live’ than on your records?’

‘This probably explains why I wasn’t invited,’ Piers concluded.

Naturally, his acerbic statement didn’t go down too well with fans on Twitter.

One advised the former Good Morning Britain host: ‘Just enjoy something for once, Piers. Life is too short’

Another added: ‘Why can’t you just celebrate and enjoy such a wonderful British success story? What is wrong with you?’

Adele fans criticised Piers on Twitter

Piers later expressed that he ‘loved’ the beautiful moment Adele reunited with her former school teacher Ms McDonald, before branding the star as ‘possessor of the best set of pipes in pop history’.

This wasn’t the first time Piers has taken aim at Adele, as he recently branded the singer ‘shameful’ and ‘hypocritical’ for using recordings of conversations with her son Angelo in her single My Little Love while also calling for her child’s privacy.

In the emotional ballad, her nine-year-old son can be heard trying to stop his mum from crying as she sings: ‘I’m so sorry if what I’ve done makes you feel sad’.

In his Daily Mail column, Piers said: ‘She’s crossed a line by exposing her young son’s innermost feelings to public scrutiny in such a soul-baring, intimate way.

‘And worse, she’s done it for attention, money, and sales. Sorry, Adele – but I find that shameful, and given all your pleas for privacy, horribly hypocritical.’

An Audience With Adele is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
