I work in a supermarket, there are 3 types of rude customers we ALWAYS see & yes, we know you hate the self-service till

A SUPERMARKET employee has revealed the most annoying things that customers do at checkouts, that they may not realise.

Keeley White explains that there are three types of rude customers that she deals with on a daily basis at work.

Taking to her TikTok account, Keeley said the first annoying thing that customers do, is try and hold up the queue when they have left their card in the car and refuse to go get it.

Posting under the domain @itskeeley the retail worker reenacted a conversation she had with a customer that didn’t have their debit card or cash and decided to hold up the queue by downloading apple pay.

Keeley tells how a customer at the self-service checkout told her they had left their card in the car, and she explained how she would hold the shopping while the customer went to grab it.

The customer said: “Hmm no I didn’t really wanna go down there. Is there any options?”

Keeley asked the customer if they had Apple Pay or Pay plus as the shopping came to less than £45.

“No I don’t have any of these can I set them up now?” replied the customer, to which the store assistant explained: “Ah so you would actually need your debit card in order to set those up.”

“No, I doubt you do, you can probably just set it up without it. Come on, you can help me” said the customer.

Keeley explained that you defiantly do need your debit card to set up apple pay, and also she was too busy to help the customer with this, as other people needed her help at the checkouts.

The customer responded: “Umm excuse me! You’re helping me now, so you’re gonna help me set this up. There you go!” handing the staff member her phone.

The supermarket worker replied: “OK as I have explained you are going to need your debit card, I can’t touch your phone and honestly it would be so much quicker for you to go back to your car and grab your wallet.”

“You’re ridiculously unhelpfuL, do you know what I’m gonna set it up myself and make sure I take extra long!” replied the customer.

Keeley said that she tried to suspend the customer’s transition and move them to customer service, but the shopper refused to move, threatening to report the staff member if she touched the till.

Moments later, after ignoring the retail worker, the customer realised that they were unable to set up Apple Pay on their phone.

“Seems like you actually do need your credit card. Been nice if you would have told me that, but I’m gonna run to the car, it should take less than a minute” said the customer.

In another post Keeley explained how a mum who was using the self-checkout kept claiming the till was broken, but it was due to her kid sitting on it.

After the mum complained that the “bagging area was broken” Keeley explained to the mum why her till was not scanning.

“OK let me just have a look. Oh…It’s just because your child is actually sitting on the bagging area so it can’t get the correct weights for your items” said the retail worker.

The mum asked her child to move but it wasn’t long before this happened a second time and explaining again why it cannot work when the child sat on it, the mother had a go at the supermarket worker.

“I mean it’s not my kid’s fault is it, the tills are absolutely crap,” said the mum.

After Keeley explained again that if the mum asked her child to move the till should work fine, the mum said: “Why are you telling me what to do with my kid? Where is he supposed to sit then.”

In a third post, Keeley revealed the other type of annoying customer that supermarket workers have to deal with, is people who ask them to hold up an entire checkout when they go to grab something.

Explaining how a customer left their card in their car, Keeley said that she told the shopper they would have to join the queue after leaving as customers are waiting.

“Oh no no no I’ll literally just be a minute. I don’t want to wait again so just hold it yeah” demanded the customer.

After deciding to service another customer, Keeley said the shopper returned and was irate because she didn’t hold up everyone in the queue for her.

“Wait are you serving someone else? I asked you to wait. I was here first” said the customer.

After the store worker explained that it wasn’t fair to ask everyone to wait, the customer added: “That is appalling service. I’m going to put in a complaint and I’m getting a manager. Stupid!”

The post has been viewed 108k times and TikTok users have been quick to comment.

“We can’t wait because sometimes you never come back” commented one person.

Another added: “I work for a supermarket, story of my life.”

“Always infuriates me when customers do that, glad I stock the shelves now” commented a third.

In related news… I’m a waitress and these are the annoying complaints customers make every day AFTER they’ve eaten their food.

More on annoying customers… I work in retail & I’m sick of people trying to get refunds on clothes they’ve clearly worn or asking for freebies

And…I work in a supermarket and all customers say the same stupid thing at the checkout – along with other annoying things.
