Red Bull F1 Boss Christian Horner to Attend a Commissioner’s Seminar After Qatar GP Incident

Red Bull boss Christian Horner was summoned by the FIA for his indecent remarks towards a volunteer marshal after the Qatar Grand Prix. It was an unusual scenario when a team principal was called by the Stewards instead of a driver.

Notably, Red Bull star Max Verstappen got a 5-place grid penalty following the transgression during Q3 in Losail Circuit. The Dutchman gained five positions to finish P2 during the main race muddling through the midfield. Nevertheless, Horner is of the opinion that if not for that penalty, Verstappen would have been a frontrunner for the first position alongside Hamilton.

In an interview, talking about the yellow flag incident, Horner called the volunteer Marshal “Rogue”. This triggered immediate reactions from the Stewards. However, Horner has apologized for the incident publicly. Moreover, He has also agreed to take part in the commissioner’s course organized by the FIA in February.

“Some comments were made hot, immediately after Max’s penalty. I want to clarify that the marshals do a wonderful job,” told The Milton Keynes Team Boss to Sky. “They are volunteers who do an important job. And my frustration that emerged before the race is not. it was against the commissioners, but for the circumstance,” he added.

He went on to apologize to the concerned marshall for the offensive comments.

Race Director Michael Masi did not approve of these comments.

F1 Race Director was not pleased with the comments Horner made and he referred the matter to the Stewards. “I think you should not attack any person, and particularly when we have thousands of volunteer marshals around the world that give up a huge amount of time globally,” he said as reported by Motorsport.

Masi stressed that the marshal concerned was “doing the best in their view, he or she, acting in the best interests of keeping everyone safe on the track. And I don’t think anyone should be criticized for acting upon their instincts.”

He further told about Horner’s conduct in the Stewards room and future course of action. “Obviously the steward’s decision was very straightforward, that Christian was very apologetic and didn’t mean to offend anyone, and Christian to his credit has volunteered to come and be a part of the stewards’ seminar in 2022,” said Masi as reported by Motorsport.
